Wash-out
Our planned 18 hole stroke competition had to be cancelled over the weekend due to the course closing on Sunday. We will reschedule later in the year. Anyone who played on Saturday has free entry into next week’s competition.
Matchplay
We are taking names for the Singles and Foursomes Matchplay. Closing date has moved to Sunday April 10th because the course was closed last Sunday. Put your name and entry fee into provided envelopes and drop into the scorecard box in mens locker-room. If you have no foursome partner there is a sheet in the locker-room, add your name and we’ll assign you a partner. All details are on the noticeboard in the locker-room.
If you can’t make it to the club please phone Ger Treacy or email me and we will enter you.
Golfer of the Year points are also awarded for the matchplays, so make sure to enter!
Coming Week
Course is closed this Saturday for Racing. Sunday we have an 18 white stableford competition.
Nine Hole
Our famous Wednesday 9 hole competition starts this Wednesday. A couple of changes from last year. As a little incentive this week we are adding an extra €30 to the birdie hole!
- Members are permitted to play in the competition anytime during the day, once you book a tee time and pay prior to playing. The tee box is now fully booked for the 9 hole competition from 4pm, if you intend playing after 4 there is no pre booking required. Just pay in the pro shop, head down to the first tee and mingle.
- You no longer are required to be present in the bar for the Free Membership draw. Every member who plays in the competition will now be entered in the nights draw. Remember Bernie always has a great deal on food every Wednesday in conjunction with the competition. Main Course & Dessert only €10.
Golfer of the Year
Our Golfer of the Year comprises all the Monthly Medals, Singles Matchplay, Foursomes Matchplay, 1 White V-Par, 1 White Stroke, Presidents Prize and Captains Prize. The point structure hasn’t changed and is displayed on the notice board in our locker room.

InterClub
The All Ireland Fourball team had a great victory over the weekend. Due to the poor weather the match was played over Saturday and Sunday against Carlow Golf club. Gowran were drawn away so played two matches in Gowran and three in Carlow.
Next round must be completed by April 24th and is another away draw against the winner of the Castlecomer/Portarlington clash. Any 16+ handicappers interested in playing please contact Gerry Minogue or Mick Bolger. You also must be 30 years old with 4 qualifying rounds from 2015 played.
