Christmas Championship at Gowran Park
Gowran Park are delighted to announce that this years’ Christmas Championship will be a singles qualifier tournament to be held from Thursday 29th through Monday 31st December 2012. Three qualifiers plus equals will go forward from each days competition to the Grand Final on Saturday 5th January 2013. The competition is open to ladies and men and the timesheet can be accessed via our website www.gowranpark.ie or the office on 056 7726699.
Autumn Series Final
Due to inclement weather the scheduled final has been deferred and will take place on Wednesday/Thursday this week.
Christmas Gala
Saturday last saw a huge turnout for the Christmas Gala. With the weather favourable all golfers were eager to get away with a shotgun start in play for lunchtime. Sean Kielys’ team took top spot on the day in the men’s competition with a great score of 7 under gross – in the ladies section 1st place went to Judy Dick, Kathleen Whitehead and Ina Sweeney while runner-up spot went to Sinead Kearney, Brigid Mullins and Maura Coe. Presentation of prizes, including those for the club matchplay took place with an enjoyable buffet and entertainment after the golf.
Members Winter League
The members winter league continued on Sunday last with hot scoring on the course. Sean Keane (14) and Liam Whitely (20) both scored 29 points on the day. Sean took the leading spot on a countback while John Colgan (19) took 3rd spot on 27 points. The competition continues with 2 more round to play over the next two Sundays.
