Inter-Club Golf:
The 3 mobile Irish Mixed Foursome team took on New Ross on Sunday. Gowran Park had a home draw which gave 3 matches in Gowran with 2 away games.
In a great performance, both away pairings managed to win – Dave Kearney (8) and Kate Hennessey (11) won their match with an impressive run of holes on the back 9 to close out the game 4&2. Mark Hennessy (4) and Deirdre McCabe (22) were faced with a pairing that included Mary Dowling, playing off a handicap of +1. Despite an exhibition of golf from the New Ross prodigy, the Gowran Park pair kept in the game and with a strong finish they came back from 2 down thru 14 to take the match on the 18th green.
The home pairings of Shane O’Brien (6) & Breda Bolger (13), Ger Treacy (7) & Sinéad Kearney (13) and Eoin Jordan (7) & Ann Mullins (15) sealed the 4-1 win.
The next round will be an away draw against the winners of Mount Juliet & Bunclody.
New Ross had a convincing win against Callan in the FBD Barton Cup on Sunday in a match of interest to Gowran as we have an away draw against the winners.
The South Leinster Trophy team also won at the weekend.
The Provincial Towns Cup team are in action against Borris on Saturday. The best of luck to all concerned.
Midweek 9-Hole:
The 9 hole competition again proved popular even with the temporary move to Thursday night due to rescheduled horse racing on the Wednesday. Normal service resumes this week!
Recent Results:
The 2nd Monthly Medal and Golfer of The Year competition was held on the weekend and the conditions were much improved with bright sunshine and firm ground under foot.

Ace Golfer:
Congratulations to Darragh McComb who holed out in style on Sunday. Playing from the back markers, the promising young 8 handicapper holed his tee shot on the difficult 215 yard 16th hole to record an ace!

Club Matchplay:
The preliminary round of the Club Matchplay is to be played by April 24th so anybody drawn to play in that round needs to complete his match immediately.
